Abigail cruz colton

My love affair with ceramics began at just 16 years old, when I decided to explore it as a high school elective. From the moment my fingers felt the cool, soft clay, there was an instant connection that ignited my passion for the craft.
Life, however, led me down a different path, and I ventured into the realm of real estate. After years of balancing the corporate and creative aspects of my life, I made the decision to take the plunge into full-time ceramics. It was a significant shift, leaving behind the real estate deals for the tactile pleasures of clay, but this transition allowed me to fully embrace my artistic calling, and I've never looked back.
My work is deeply influenced by the unmatched beauty that surrounds me, particularly the stunning landscapes of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where I currently live, as well as the fond memories that I hold from my childhood spent on the island of Guam. The textures, colors, and forms found in these picturesque settings serve as endless sources of inspiration for my creations.
Textures hold a special place in my heart, a way to connect with the world around us in a tangible way, and I strive to infuse this tactile essence into every piece I create. My ceramics are a fusion of artistic vision and the sensory experiences provided by nature.
Today, I am delighted to share my artistic journey and creations with you. You can discover my current works on display at the Wild Hare Gallery in Travelers Rest, where I hope they convey the passion and inspiration that underpin each piece. I invite you to explore this artistic world with me, whether through the intricate details of my artwork or by joining one of my classes, where together, we can unlock the secrets of this beautiful craft.
Thank you for embarking on this artistic adventure, where clay transforms into art, and creativity knows no boundaries.
